University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools:
Editorial Integrity Policy Statement - New Mexico PBS

"Public broadcasting is rooted in the constitutional guarantees of a free press and free speech. The Federal Radio Act of 1927 defines the basic policy that broadcasters must operate in "the public interest, convenience and necessity." Therefore, UNM and APS hold a broadcast license in trust and its public broadcasting station serves the public, not the organizations which hold such license. We are committed to protecting the integrity of programming, views and editorial content. Editorial integrity in this context is defined as the responsible application by professional practitioners of a free and independent decision making process ultimately accountable to the needs and interests of all citizens."

New Mexico PBS Public Files

The public files contain a variety of information about each station’s operations and service to its community of license, including information about political time sold or given away by each station, quarterly lists of the most significant programs each station aired concerning issues of importance to its community, data on ownership of each station and active applications each station has filed with the Commission.

The Commission adopted the public inspection file requirement to "make information to which the public already has a right more readily available, so that the public will be encouraged to play a more active part in dialogue with broadcast licensees."
